The empirical formula of the complexes was for HL1 and HL2 and for H元. Using microwave irradiation, the copper complexes were obtained in shorter reaction times. Using conventional heating copper(II) acetate dissolved in water, was slowly added in a stirred solution of the corresponding ligand HL1, HL2 and H元 in ethanol for 24 h at 70 ✬. The copper complexes of 4,6-diaryldihydropyrimidinones were prepared by refluxing mixture of copper(II) acetate and the corresponding 3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2(1H)-thione in molar ratio (1:2). The potential use of these complexes have been attracted great interest due to their biological activity as antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antitumor agents.

Copper is an essential trace nutrient for organisms. However, microwave synthesis of coordination and organometallic compounds has been less explored.

 Microwave irradiation has been applied as a non-conventional reaction condition in several areas of chemistry such as organic and polymer synthesis or analytical chemistry.
